Chinese Apothecary Chest
Often referred to as a “Hundred-Eye Cabinet” due to the density of small drawers this Qing Dynasty (circa 1860) Chinese apothecary cabinet still retains many of its original paper labels describing the contents of each drawer. Cabinets such as this were historically used by traditional Chinese doctors to store a vast selection of dried herbs and medicinal roots. A piece of art as much as it is a piece of furniture!
